Quick-Step and
underfloor heating

Underfloor heating for laminate and timber floors

Heated floors are becoming increasingly popular in both new buildings and renovation projects. Often, people believe this option limits their flooring choice to tiles. But did you know that all Quick-Step laminate and timber floors are compatible with underfloor heating as well?

Different types of underfloor heating and underfloor cooling

Quick-Step floors can be used in conjunction with low-temperature underfloor heating. Low temperature floor heating can be defined as a floor heating system where the common floor temperature (= surface temperature of your installed Quick-Step floor) is maximum 27°C.

Your Quick-Step floor can be installed on:

  • Hot water systems:
    • Wet systems (embedded in the subfloor)
    • Dry systems
  • Electrical systems:
    • Wet systems (embedded in the subfloor)
    • Dry systems
Please make sure to follow the floorheating instructions to verify if your floor is compatible with your floorheating system. If you have any concerns, please contact the Quick-Step technical department.

Our laminate Quick-Step floors are compatible with underfloor cooling as well. Make sure to use the correct underlay in order to have a total heat-resistance of < 0.09 m² K/W.

The importance of thermal resistance and insulation

To enjoy the benefits of underfloor heating, you need a floor with low thermal resistance, which allows the heat to pass through. The higher the thermal resistance, the longer it will take your floor to warm up and the less efficient your underfloor heating will be.

Additionally, it is important to place an insulating layer below your underfloor heating. This way, heat is reflected away from the insulative layer and is conducted through the floor.

However, our laminate and timber floor ranges offer suitable and cost-effective options, making them perfectly suited for underfloor heating.

Installing underfloor heating and underfloor cooling

When installing a floor in combination with underfloor heating or cooling, it is important to follow the specific guidelines for each floortype.
